Thoughts While Watching the MTV Video Music Awards

  • WTF, Kevin Hart. Midgets?!
  • Telling Drake and Chris Brown to squash their fight was the best part in the opening skit.
  • Katy Perry, what are you wearing? Not as a “I want your outfit” way either.
  • I hope One Direction doesn’t win every Moonman over this one song. The video for “What Makes You Beautiful” wasn’t the most original of videos…
  • Taylor Swift, you cannot date one of the One Direction boys. That eye she gave them was too vixen like for me.
  • Why is Calvin Harris trapped in a geometric light to DJ?
  • Maria, thank you for joining the many Magic fans who booed Dwight Howard. Is this why he moved to the LA Lakers? To be on television?
  • I don’t know if I like Miley Cyrus’ outfit, but I definitely don’t like Mac Miller’s.
  • Is this going to be a repeat of Pink’s trapeze act? No? Darn it.
  • Gabby Douglas! YES!
  • Alicia Keys and Swizz Beats’ son! Cute, but his hair needs to be fixed. I love this song, so I won’t rant on it.
  • I don’t know what the fringe action is going on with this blonde’s dress, but that’s a huge no.
  • When Zoe Saldana shows up to the MTV VMA’s wearing a horrible piece, you know the rest of the night is not gonna be good for fashion.
  • Frank Ocean…. great performance.
  • Kevin Hart is a genius and should host more shows. Period.
  • Rashida Jones looks very sexy librarian to Andy Samberg’s nerd of the month.
  • Snoooze…Bring back the host!
  • Nicki Minaj would. Her buddy is wearing slippers. She should’ve won. Period.
  • Rule of thumb for performances: if you have to edit 75% of the song, don’t perform it. That’s to you 2Chainz and Lil’ Wayne.
  • Ke$ha’s proposed bodysuit was….basically done before. But I appreciate Hart for trying.
  • If that is the tribute they have to Adam “MCA” Yauch, they should be ashamed.
  • Breaking Dawn Part 2 looks like a good movie for November!
  • Wiz Khalifa and Amber Rose would try to imitate Jay-Z and Beyonce’s announcement of their new addition. It seems like the low-rent version of hip-hop royalty. Officially played out.
  • One Direction did win a bunch of awards tonight. Or did it just seem that way?
  • Alicia Keys’ song “Girl on Fire” was great. Granted, the world is on a Nicki Minaj kick, but Gabby Douglas looked like she was having the time of her life on that stage.
  • What did voting have to do with Taylor Swift? Is this because she’s dating a Kennedy?

Conclusion: Alicia Keys and Frank Ocean had the best performances. Kevin Hart is a great host, but better for the BET Awards. He seemed censored. The VMAs are just lackluster without the heavy hitters of yesteryears like Madonna, Britney Spears, and Usher. There’s always next year.
